Direct Paper Supplies was one of the first companies in our industry to achieve certification under both the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) schemes which promote best practice in sustainable forest management. Where available we bias our sourcing to support the growing demand for “greener” products which are provided with the endorsement of the above programmes. (Copies of our certificates for FSC and PEFC are available on request)
Whilst trees are a renewable source we strive to minimize the stress on our forests by purchasing where possible products that contain a portion of recycled material in addition to certified virgin fibre. As an example it takes approximately 3 tonne of wood to make 1 tonne of virgin fibre art paper; therefore if we can reduce this by 30% or greater by incorporating recycled material we can quickly calculate the benefit. Our “BehaviouR™” range of papers and boards is proof of our commitment to such thinking and this will be expanded upon as suitable products are identified but more importantly assessed for their compliance.
From the commencement of business back in 1996 through to today “Recycling” has been top of mind for Direct Paper Supplies. We are proud to say that we waste nothing and now recycle in excess of 200 tonnes per year of sorted paper waste. This waste is derived predominantly from our converting plant and the benefit is twofold, by customizing sizes to get closer to your actual print area we reduce client waste dramatically. The other benefit is that all waste avoids land fill as it is sold back to local and overseas paper and board manufacturers thus extending the life cycle.
Being a family run independent business provides Direct Paper Supplies with the ability to act swiftly in implementing best practice for the benefit of all. We ensure that our conduct is at all times respectful to our employees, customers and business partners; we take responsibility for our actions and comply with all laws and regulations. We are committed to sustainability and being a responsible neighbour.
